What is Advocacy Training?
This practical training is designed to teach participants how to tell their story and experience with mental health in Kansas in order to advocate for mental health issues. The outcome of this learning experience is that attendees will know how to schedule and have a sit-down, in-person meeting with a state legislator, a county commissioner, a municipal decision-maker or a community leader. Our intention is to influence change to improve mental health not just for people and families experiencing mental health challenges, but all people living in Kansas.
The training class does include interaction with other participants, as well as writing and communication practice.
Time: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Location: Three Sites - Topeka, Olathe and Wichita - The central training site is Topeka with Zoom Meeting participation at the two satellite locations.
