2020 Kansas Mental Health Advocacy Day

  • Standard registration for individual consumers, family members, providers and advocates to attend advocacy events - including briefing, rally, exhibits, legislative sessions.

    Please provide as much contact information as possible for each group guest. If you do not have an email for each guest, you can enter a dummy email.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:

9:30 a.m. - Noon   Registration - State Capitol Visitors Center

9:30 a.m. - Informational Briefings - will be repeated every 20 - 30 minutes - State Capitol -Visitors Center Auditorium

9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  Exhibits - State Capitol, First Floor Rotunda   Click here for Exhibitor Registration

11:00 a.m. - Session of the Kansas House of Representatives -group will watch the House session from the gallery.

11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  Legislative Lunch  - State Capitol, First Floor North Wing

1:00 p.m. -  1:30 p.m.   Mental Health Advocacy Rally  - State Capitol, First Floor Rotunda

2:30 p.m. - Session of the Kansas Senate -group will watch the Senate session from the gallery.

Ongoing Activities for all participants:

Legislative Appointments - meeting with your legislators is the most important part of the day.  Meetings may take place in the hallways or legislative offices.  You will need to schedule your own appointments before coming to Topeka.  Not all legislators will be available for meetings.

Legislative Committees - choose from among multiple committee meetings to view legislative workings up close.

Please schedule your appointments with legislators before you come to Topeka - assistance is available through your registration.

Members of the public must enter the Capitol at the north entrance and pass through security screening.  Drop-off is allowed at the north entrance. Parking is difficult downtown, so allow plenty of time.  Click here for downtown map and parking info.  Parking south of the Judicial Center is free. If you want to park on the street, bring plenty of change. There are some 10 hour meters on Jackson between 9th and 10th street that are usually open if you arrive by 8:30 a.m. Yellow meters are 10 hours (50 cents an hour), gray meters are two hours ($1.00 per hour) and green meters have a one hour limit ($1.00). The underground parking garage is limited to two hours. Crosby Place and Centre City Garages are in the link above.
